Collectively this team has over 100 years of cumulative experience in the performance, testing and characterisation of ultra-hard ceramic composites and powders. This includes the use of diamond, cubic boron nitride, cemented tungsten carbide and other ceramic components in numerous applications including mechanical, thermal, electrical and magnetic applications. Our expertise and practical working knowledge in this field is complimented by access to characterisation techniques and property measurements for the comprehensive analysis of ceramic materials. Some of these characterisation techniques (but not limited to) include XRD (including hot-stage XRD), XRF, Optical and Electron Microscopy, residual stress and microstructural feature analysis.
In addition, the team has expertise and access to tribological testing capabilities and performance evaluation of tooling in end applications. This is complimented by the ability to model real life tribological phenomena using finite element modelling to understand the stresses encountered in application and ways to mitigate any deleterious effects.
Some of the properties measurements that are at our disposal include room temperature and elevated temperature properties such as transverse rupture strength (TRS), Fracture Toughness (Kic, Kiic and Kiiic) measurements, thermal properties measurements and conductivity, density.
Specialist knowledge in the analysis and characterisation of these materials translates into a holistic understanding of these materials. Together with the integration of the properties and behaviours of tooling will establish the root causes that determine the performance of materials in application. With a unique and world leading understanding of the performance of materials a detailed failure analysis and comprehensive characterisation of your materials is assured. We can handle any query or technical question regarding the performance of your materials and provide a comprehensive evaluation and rigorous characterisation report.
